The most difficult dialogue is between neighbors: Rivne community

April 20, 2023

Initiators: Olena Khomych and Inna Kolomiets, participants in the Dialogue in Action 3.0 of the Chairman of the Condominium

Where: Rivne

Result: after our cooperation, Inna and Elena held not just meetings, but immediately two Regional Condominium Forums, which helped those who could not imagine life without housing to decide on new roles, independently solve current issues and choose contractors that all neighbors will be satisfied with

Details of cooperation:

Within the framework of DiA 3.0, Olena Khomich and Inna Kolomiets contacted us, who created several dozen condominiums in the region within the framework of the NGO “Resource Center for Support of Condominiums of Rivne region”.

It is convenient to engage in dialogue with unfamiliar people, but building open communication with your own neighbors is often a task with an asterisk.

Our work was aimed at achieving transparent reporting and communication, developing grassroots democracy through condominiums. Additionally, we were pleased to work on participant viability and planning efficiency. It was important for them to learn not to ignore the need for rest for the heads of condominiums themselves, who often have several houses under their care. Previously, for example, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the adjacent territory, landscaping, internal issues of repair, light, basic comfort were carried out automatically, without the participation of homeowners and without the ability to influence it in any way. Instead, it is the condominium as a form of self-organization that is an example of a living democracy, where people band together for common decisions, hire performers, and can do things they never even dreamed of before.

We believe that dialogue, cooperation and democracy begin with every apartment, every floor, every yard and apartment building.
